I see these kinds of posts on other blogs and love them, as they give me an idea of what I should keep my eyes open for, so I decided to do my own. Looking Forward is going to be a monthly feature where I let you know which books I’m looking forward to being released each month. There is no guarantee I’m going to buy these books straight away, but these are the books I’ll be keeping my eyes on (not that I need to be buying anymore books, but you know, I have money and I’m young, let’s do this shit).
I am someone who does keep track of new releases and what new books are coming out, but I rarely buy them (unless impulse takes over) but I like to be aware of what is coming out, even if I’m not buying yet.
Queen of Shadows – Sarah J Maas
Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Young Adult
Release Date: 1st September 2015
I know this is all I ever talk about when it comes to SJ Maas right now, but I will be catching up on this series! I am planning on rereading the first two books in prep for me to finally start the third, Heir of Fire, and then I can read this. I’m not too sure when this epic series catch up is going to occur, though.
Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she's at last returned to the empire—for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past . . .
She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die just to see her again. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen's triumphant return.
Celaena’s epic journey has captured the hearts and imaginations of millions across the globe. This fourth volume will hold readers rapt as Celaena’s story builds to a passionate, agonizing crescendo that might just shatter her world.
Genre: Contemporary, Young Adult, Realistic Fiction
Release Date: 15th September 2015
I first heard about this book a few months ago and was interested then, so it has been a long wait for September to arrive for this one. I am so interested in this book because it sounds different. Yes, the main character is ‘fat’ but by the sounds of it she doesn’t have a problem with her weight or her appearance, instead she embraces it. That is refreshing for a book to feature more realistic characters, because I’m sure we all get bored of hearing about the pretty thin girl.
Self-proclaimed fat girl Willowdean Dickson (dubbed “Dumplin’” by her former beauty queen mom) has always been at home in her own skin. Her thoughts on having the ultimate bikini body? Put a bikini on your body. With her all-American beauty best friend, Ellen, by her side, things have always worked . . . until Will takes a job at Harpy’s, the local fast-food joint. There she meets Private School Bo, a hot former jock. Will isn’t surprised to find herself attracted to Bo. But she is surprised when he seems to like her back.
Instead of finding new heights of self-assurance in her relationship with Bo, Will starts to doubt herself. So she sets out to take back her confidence by doing the most horrifying thing she can imagine: entering the Miss Clover City beauty pageant—along with several other unlikely candidates—to show the world that she deserves to be up there as much as any twiggy girl does. Along the way, she’ll shock the hell out of Clover City—and maybe herself most of all.
With starry Texas nights, red candy suckers, Dolly Parton songs, and a wildly unforgettable heroine— Dumplin’ is guaranteed to steal your heart.
Genre: Fantasy, Historical, Romance, Young Adult
Release Date: 22nd September 2015
I haven’t read Carson’s other book series, but this book keeps popping up because everyone seems to love Carson’s last series so cannot wait to read this one. I have not made my mind up yet. I tried to read Girl of Fire and Thorns once before and couldn’t finish it so I am wary of this book, but also totally intrigued. I mean, gold rush California as a setting sounds amazing! I may buy this one, but I’ll probably need to read a few reviews first.
Lee Westfall has a secret. She can sense the presence of gold in the world around her. Veins deep beneath the earth, pebbles in the river, nuggets dug up from the forest floor. The buzz of gold means warmth and life and home—until everything is ripped away by a man who wants to control her. Left with nothing, Lee disguises herself as a boy and takes to the trail across the country. Gold was discovered in California, and where else could such a magical girl find herself, find safety?
Walk on Earth a Stranger, the first book in this new trilogy, introduces—as only Rae Carson can—a strong heroine, a perilous road, a fantastical twist, and a slow-burning romance. Includes a map and author’s note on historical research.
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy
Release Date: 22nd September 2015
This is another case of me cheating, this time it’s because I’ve in fact already read this book. I’ve got a nice little review waiting to post and I really enjoyed it. But, if I hadn’t received an eARC I would have bought this book anyway because I loved Holmberg’s Paper Magician trilogy so was interested in what else she might write.
After 17-year-old Smitha is cursed to be as cold as her heart, Death himself offers her a chance for relief. Unwilling to give up her life, Smitha seeks redemption deep in the savage deserts, where her perpetual winter dares to make her a hero.
Tonight the Streets Are Ours – Leila Sales
Genre: Coming of Age, Young Adult, Contemporary
Release Date: 24th September 2015 (UK)
I suppose I’m cheating a bit because I already have a copy of this for review, but I am looking forward to this book’s release, why else would I have requested a review copy. It just sounds really interesting and out there. I know there is plenty that could horribly wrong in this book, but the premise is not something I’d heard before and I do love a good road trip in my books.
From the author of This Song Will Save Your Life comes a funny and relatable book about the hazards of falling for a person you haven't met yet.
Seventeen-year-old Arden Huntley is recklessly loyal. Taking care of her loved ones is what gives Arden purpose in her life and makes her feel like she matters. But she's tired of being loyal to people who don't appreciate her—including her needy best friend and her absent mom.
Arden finds comfort in a blog she stumbles upon called "Tonight the Streets Are Ours," the musings of a young New York City writer named Peter. When Peter is dumped by the girlfriend he blogs about, Arden decides to take a road trip to see him.
During one crazy night out in NYC filled with parties, dancing, and music—the type of night when anything can happen, and nearly everything does—Arden discovers that Peter isn't exactly who she thought he was. And maybe she isn't exactly who she thought she was, either.
Genre: Romance, Contemporary, College, New Adult
Release Date: 29th September 2015
I am eternally loyal to Armentrout, even when she releases less than stellar books I will always come back to her New Adult releases because the romance in these are always solid. I will undoubtedly buy this within days of its release because I can always make time for a bit of romance in my reading pile.
In the irresistibly sexy series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout, two free spirits find their lives changed by a one-night stand…
Some things you just believe in, even if you've never experienced them. For Stephanie, that list includes love. It's out there. Somewhere. Eventually. Meanwhile she's got her job at the mixed martial arts training center and hot flings with gorgeous, temporary guys like Nick. Then a secret brings them closer, opening Steph's eyes to a future she never knew she wanted—until tragedy rips it away.
Nick's self-assured surface shields a past no one needs to know about. His mind-blowing connection with Steph changes all that. As fast as he's knocking down the walls that have kept him commitment-free, she's building them up again, determined to keep the hurt—and Nick—out. But he can't walk away. Not when she's the only one who's ever made him wish for forever . . .
They are all books I am intrigued by and will want to read… eventually. I hope you’re interested to, if you’ve read any (you lucky readers getting the books before it’s released) let me know your thoughts. And if you haven’t read them yet but are interested let me know why.
